In his NFL preseason debut with the Los Angeles Rams, Stetson Bennett showcased a commendable performance that unfortunately concluded with consecutive sacks and a loss to cross-town rivals, the Chargers. This ending cast a bittersweet shadow over an otherwise impressive showing.
Guided by Rams head coach Sean McVay, Bennett finds an ideal mentor, especially considering his achievement of clinching two consecutive national championships in 2021 and 2022 during his time at Georgia.
Although Matthew Stafford is clearly McVay’s designated starter for the upcoming season, Bennett stands poised to serve as an excellent backup option for the Rams if the situation arises.
Meanwhile, Brett Rypien, the third-string quarterback, managed just 11 yards on a 3-for-6 completion rate. Bennett dominated the majority of the game with his presence on the field.
